Run your IrisX App
If you need to share your IrisX App with other parties, you will need to submit your app.
1. Use the NX command to serve the IrisX App for local testing.
npx nx run [name-of-your-app]:serve
... wait for the text to say ...
✨ Iris App is now started, check it out ✨ https://new.manager.trackunit.com/goto/iris-app-dev
2. Open a browser
Using this url: https://new.manager.trackunit.com/goto/iris-app-dev
You might need to login before it hits that page, use your developer credentials.
3. Checkbox appears
You should now see a checkbox in bottom left saying Use Local Apps (you can serve multiple local apps if needed)
Local dev mode enables the manager (which is remotely hosted) to load the apps directly from your local development environment. It might take around 30 seconds to load the first time. This is also where you can turn off running in local dev mode.
Reproduce issues that only happen in a published app
A published IrisX App runs React's production runtime, while serve uses React's development runtime by default (development warnings and React Fast Refresh). If something works locally but breaks once the app is submitted, serve with React's production runtime to reproduce it:
npx nx run [name-of-your-app]:serve --productionReact
With --productionReact:
- React runs without development warnings, and React errors show up as coded messages (see react.dev/errors).
- React Fast Refresh is turned off, so a code change reloads the page instead of hot-swapping the component.
- Everything else works as usual, including "Use Local Apps" in Manager.
Leave the option off for day-to-day development. It only affects local serving; published apps always use React's production runtime.
If the app is stuck loading:
- Look at the console and ensure that it is not still "bundling". Wait for its completion.
- Try reloading the page.
- Try a different browser (Safari is not currently supported).
- Ensure that you aren't running multiple instances by accident and if so, shutdown the duplicate processes.
- We only allow 10 apps at the same time being served from you local machine
